Michael Horodyski, president and CEO of Wallkill Valley Federal Savings and Loan and Chair of the Board of Trustees of Mount Saint Mary College, was honored for his outstanding service to the community by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) of the Greater Hudson Valley on Thursday, November 17.

As part of the 16th annual National Philanthropy Day ceremony, hosted at the Powelton Club in Newburgh, the AFP of the Greater Hudson Valley named Horodyski “Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer.” The AFP gives this award to an individual who exemplifies dedication to the nonprofit sector and the professional fundraising in the Greater Hudson Valley. Horodyski was honored for his 25-plus years of service to the local community.

Giving back to the community is an important part of Horodyski’s life, both professionally and personally. He has served on the Board of Directors for community organizations such as Town of Lloyd Town Board, First Monetary Mutual, Emerald Corporate Center, Walkway Over the Hudson and the Ulster County Industrial Development Agency. In addition to serving as the board chair at the Mount, Horodyski also serves as Foundation Board Member for the Vassar Brothers Medical Center Foundation, Board Director of the New York Bankers Association, and Board Director for ADAPT of the Hudson Valley.

Born and raised in Highland, Horodyski is a seasoned businessman and has been president and CEO of Wallkill Valley Federal Savings and Loan for more than a decade. Before that, he served as the bank’s Executive Vice President.

After graduating from Marist College with honors, Horodyski spent some time on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange before returning to the Hudson Valley to begin his banking career. He has served local community banks in a number of capacities before joining Wallkill Valley Federal Savings and Loan in 2009.

Horodyski was nominated for the award by Nikki Khurana-Baugh, vice president for Advancement at the Mount.

“As Board Chair, Mike is always willing to go above and beyond in giving of his time, talent and treasure,” said Khurana-Baugh. “Under Mike’s leadership, the college established several new fundraising initiatives to directly benefit our students during these financially difficult times. A few examples include the Student Emergency Needs Fund, the Donor Scholarship Fund and the Internship Fund.”
