Jacobson: good first step in making vaccination process simple and consistent

Assemblymember Jonathan Jacobson (D-104) is praising today’s announcement regarding the COVID-19 vaccination process in New York State, calling it “a good first step.”

“I am glad that the State is finally taking some commonsense measures to improve the COVID-19 vaccination application process,” Jacobson said. “I have previously called for permanent vaccination sites with a consistent and easier application process.”

Today, the Governor announced expanded opportunities for New Yorkers. Beginning tomorrow, March 9 at 8 a.m., New Yorkers over the age of 60 will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.

On March 17, county and state vaccination sites—with the exception of pharmacies—will be able to vaccinate all eligible New Yorkers. Pharmacies can vaccinate teachers, educators, and all New Yorkers over the age of 60. Also starting on March 17, all public-facing non-profit and public employees and essential public workers will also be eligible.

The Governor also announced two new State vaccination sites in Middletown and New Paltz earlier this week.

“While all of these measures are necessary, we still need State facilities in Newburgh and Poughkeepsie as well. Orange County has more than 375,000 residents and Dutchess County has close to 300,000,” concluded Jacobson.
