Joan A. Restko

Joan A. Restko, 92, a longtime resident of Milton, died on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Mid-Hudson Regional Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.

Born in Yonkers, NY on November 2, 1929, she was the daughter of Joseph and Adelaide DeLapp. On July 12, 1984, Joan married Charles C. Restko Jr., who predeceased her in March of this year.

Joan is survived by children, Patricia Fischer of Highland, Charles Restko III and his wife Joyce of Coxsackie, and Melissa Broe and her husband Charles of New Windsor, grandchildren Kara and Tyler Fischer, Kayla Lewis, Charles IV and Rachel Restko,and Charles and Adrian Broe, and great-granddaughter Stella Wickham. She is also survived by her cousins Patricia Sozio and her husband Frank of Milton, Peter Kleeman and his wife Ruth of Calhoun, GA, and Arthur Zirger of Colorado.

Joan was a retired Kindergarten teacher from the Highland School District, and always advocated on the importance of education. Joan loved to travel and enjoyed attending the Marlboro/Milton Seniors meetings with her beloved husband. She loved gardening and her flowers and enjoyed playing dominoes after Sunday dinners (where dessert was always the best part of the meal).

She will be missed by her family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 4 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the DiDonato Funeral Home, 1290 Route 9W, Marlboro. A prayer service will follow the visitation.

Burial will follow at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Cemetery in Gardiner.
