Junior League volunteers at Food Bank of the Hudson Valley

Posted

On Saturday, November 14th, active members of the Junior League of Orange County (JLOC), along with provisional members and friends, volunteered at the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley. Volunteers rolled up their sleeves to unpack, sort, and repack 6 pallets of food that will ultimately be distributed to families facing the issue of food scarcity.

“JLOC members were also able to collect $300 to donate to the Food Bank which equals 1,200 meals for those in need,” said Jessica Guglielmo, JLOC project chairwoman. “This was a tremendous effort by all. I am so proud of JLOC and what we can accomplish when we work together.”

Jhaquil Johnson, Volunteer Coordinator for the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, directed the JLOC volunteers and was appreciative of both their efforts volunteering at the warehouse and financial support.

“JLOC’s project with the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley was a great success,” proclaimed Rachel Losee, JLOC President. “This project had amazing synergy and teamwork amongst organizations, members, and friends. When we come together to volunteer, we create a bigger community impact.”

The Food Bank is committed to providing emergency food assistance to people in need. Financial support is essential to help cover costs of additional staff, vehicles and food purchases for special distributions in six counties and other hard-hit communities to meet the needs of thousands of people, many of whom are unemployed and in need of food assistance for the first time. The Food Bank is in need of volunteers to help sort and pack donated food in their warehouse.
