Lloyd considers expansion of Tony Williams parking lot

Posted

The Lloyd Town Board received drawings from Michael A. Bodendorf, of Hudson Land Deign, on adding to the parking lot at Tony Williams Field.

Bodendorf said, “We can provide 43 net new spaces in the new parking area, some of which are the re-striped spaces that exist adjacent to the hill now, and 18 additional spaces by providing additional striping in the parking lot. This totals 61 additional spaces. The four compact spaces are up to the Town. If they are added, then the total goes up to 65 spaces. The only other added parking space that’s iffy is the one I added where the dumpster is. It may not fit.

There is an opportunity to add one or two additional spaces to the nine-space row in front of the basketball court, but I need to check in the field if it is possible to add and also grade in a swale and sump for a new catch basin in that location to intercept the existing swale coming from the west side of the tunnel. The survey we have predates the tunnel work, so the existing topography in that area does not represent existing conditions.”

Bodendorf said the new pavement area totals 1,300 sq/ft and suggested, “re-grading the northerly ditch on the park side of the tunnel so that it has positive pitch to the swale that runs along the rail trail.” He believes there is no need for a one-way through the site because there exists 24 ft. of aisle width.

Bodendorf said he expects there will be enough room for fire trucks to maneuver but will check this using a fire truck template.

The town board will be discussing this at their March 15 meeting at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall, 12 Church St. Highland.
