Marlboro Library presents winter programs

All are welcome to attend Marlboro Library’s Book Club! During January’s meeting, our Book Club will be discussing The Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn.

Book Club will meet in-person at the Marlboro Library on Wednesday, January 25 at 7 p.m.  Copies of January’s selection have been ordered and are available for pick-up.  Registration is required, register online at marlborolibrary.org.

The Marlboro Library’s popular Local History Trivia Night continues Wednesday, January 11, February 8 and March 8 at 7 p.m. From the comfort of your own home, test your knowledge of Marlborough in this relaxed environment Our trivia night is less about knowing the answers and more about connecting with friends, old and new, and learning something unexpected about the town’s history!

Registration is required. Register to participate, or just to listen in, at marlborolibrary.org.

Come to the Marlboro Library on Wednesday, January 18 at 6:30 p.m. and decorate your own adorable garland using gouache paint and celebrate hygge, the feeling of being cozy and content, this winter. 

Craft sessions will be in-person in the community room. Spaces are limited. Register online at marlborolibrary.org.  See our website for more upcoming craft sessions for adults!

Registration for the Library’s Children’s Winter/Spring programs will open on Wednesday, January 25, at 10:00 am. Registration will take place online through the Library’s event calendar at marlborolibrary.org.

School News /Events
In case you missed it: During its monthly business meeting on November 17, the Marlboro Board of Education approved the extension of the District’s free breakfast and lunch program through the end of the 2022-2023 school year. This means that all students are now eligible to receive breakfast and/or lunch at no charge until the end of June.

St. Mary’s Church
If you use envelopes and would like written confirmation of your contributions to St. Mary’s and Our Lady of Mercy Church for the past year, we will be more than happy to send you a statement upon request. We will be working on the contribution statements within the next few weeks.

St. Mary’s Food Pantry is accepting any and all donations throughout the year. If you would prefer, you can make a monetary donation to the food pantry. A donation can be made for someone or in memory of someone. You can give a donation for or in place of a holiday or birthday gift as well. Thank you!!

Sweet Corn Cakes
A simple dish to make that will delight your taste buds.

PREP TIME 10 minutes COOK TIME 40 minutes TOTAL TIME 50 minutes
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 (15 ounces) can creamed corn
1 (15 ounces) can whole kernel corn, drained
1 (8 1/4 ounces Jiffy corn muffin mix
1/2 cup sugar Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease an 8 by 8 baking pan.
2. Mix together the melted butter cans of creamed and whole kernel corn. Then stir in the corn muffin mix and sugar.
3. Bake about 40-45 minutes. The top will be nice and light brown.
4. Use an ice cream scoop and scoop out a nice, rounded scoop onto a plate and then ENJOY! Note: If you want to make this more savory add a small can of green chilies and some cheddar cheese to this recipe!

First Presbyterian Church Of Marlboro will be celebrating Marian Baldwin’s 100th birthday on January 29 with a party open to all who know and love her, after the 11:00 worship service that day.

We’d like to shower her with birthday cards, hoping to reach more than 100 cards. Anyone wishing to send Marian a birthday card can send it to post office Box 577, Marlboro, NY 12542 before January 29.
