Robert “Bob” Murphy, who I personally know from my law enforcement days, is an Army veteran that served from 1964-1966. He is also a retired New York State Police Lieutenant who served in many capacities throughout his 20-year career and was instrumental in many high-profile cases. After hanging up his badge and gun years ago, the law wasn’t finished with him yet. He became the New Paltz Police Chief for a period of time. Then, just when he thought he was finished with serving his community, Bob was asked to run for Plattekill Town Justice in 2013 based upon his long and distinguished law enforcement career, his knowledge of the law and the respect he had in the community. Bob was elected and re-elected four years later. Judge Murphy will be hanging up his gavel at the end of his term, retiring to spend more time with his family and grandchildren.

Judge Murphy’s ride is a 2003 Lexus SC 430, the SC designation stands for Sport Coupe. He recently purchased it from the previous owner out of Massachusetts. The Lexus sports a 4.3-liter V-8 3UZ-FE engine with 325 Horsepower and a 5-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. The exterior is “Metallic Black”, the interior is all leather with luxurious wood trim, it has a retractable hardtop that hides away in the trunk and has all the amenities expected in a Lexus. Judge Murphy enjoys cruising with family and friends on country roads and listening to oldies music. His dream car is a 1963 MG Midget, color white. Judge Murphy’s first car was a 1958 Chevy Impala.

Specifications: 10,755 units built in 2003; 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds; Top Track Speed-156 mph; Curb Weight 3,840 lbs; Wheelbase 103.1 inches; Length 177.8 inches; width 72 inches
