Student art show runs next week at Fridas

Meet Me in Marlborough is hosting a far,, artisan flea market on Saturday, May 21 at the Cluett Schantz Park, 1801-1805 Route 9W, Milton. It will feature fare from local farms, plus local food, a flea market, music and many vendors.

Marlboro Free Library
All are welcome to attend Marlboro Library Book Club! During May’s meeting, we will be discussing The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson. We will also discuss last month’s pick: Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup by John Carreyrou.

Book Club will meet in-person at the Marlboro Library. Copies have been ordered and are available for pick-up. Registration required, register online at marlborolibrary.org.

St, Mary’s Church
Granny’s Attic will take place on May 21 and 22.
Once again as the weather warms and spring weather is apparent, Granny’s Attic organizer, Jeanne DeSantis, is getting excited to hold this fundraiser. Items for the sale should be brought to the Parish Hall on Thursday and Friday, May 19 and 20.

We are sorry, but we cannot accept: clothing or shoes, computers or computer equipment, rugs, furniture, large appliances, or exercise equipment
We request that you do not just leave items at the doors of the church, hall or rectory. Please be considerate. We do not have the room to store your donations.

Couples in the Archdiocese of New York who are celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary in the 2022 calendar year are invited to attend the Golden Jubilee Wedding Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at 2:30 p.m.

Couples who wish to attend Mass must register with their parish. Pews will be reserved for the Golden Jubilee Couples only and up to 4 additional family members or friends.

School Events/Announcements
Congratulations to Emma Schlagler and Dylan Gunsett, who have been named this year’s Mid-Hudson Athletic League (MHAL) Senior Scholar-Athlete Award recipients for Marlboro High School! The awards, which are given to one female and one male student from each school in the League, are based on athletic performance and academic merit.

Emma competed on the Softball, Tennis, Winter Track, and Cross-Country teams for Marlboro, while Dylan played Soccer, Basketball, and Tennis, and ran Track.

Both are members of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society.

Mark your calendars! A District-wide Art Show will be on display at Frida’s in Milton from Monday, May 16 through Friday, May 20.

An opening celebration for students and their families will be held on Tuesday, May 17, from 5-7 p.m. Refreshments will be served. See some of the magnificent work created by our talented student artists in Grades K-12.

The Marlboro Central School District Board of Education is seeking to select two parents and two community members to participate on the Superintendent of Schools interview committee. Weekly Recipe

Breakfast Loaded Sweet Potato

I N G R E D I E N T S
1 medium sweet potato
2 Tbsp whole milk vanilla Icelandic yogurt
1/4 cup blueberries
2 Tbsp Bob’s Red Mill granola
HOW TO MAKE IT
1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

2. Wash sweet potatoes and prick with a fork for steam to escape.

3. Place on a baking sheet for 45 minutes until sweet potatoes are soft and can be pierced with a fork.

4. Open sweet potatoes with a knife and add a dollop of yogurt, blueberries, and top with granola. Serve immediately.

5. To make ahead, store baked sweet potatoes in the fridge and microwave to reheat.
