4th of July tradition continues in Circleville

Another successful Circleville 4th of July Parade is in the books.

Families gathered alongside streets, Monday morning, to catch a glimpse of the patriotic parade rolling down Renton Road and beyond. Onlookers could see tractors, antique fire trucks, local organizations waving banners and flags, all celebrating the independence of our nation.

This year’s route started at Circleville Middle School, proceeded along Renton Road, then turned right on to Goshen Turnpike, followed by a left turn on Route 302, finally ending at the C. Hudson Thomas Memorial Park on Sam Fast Lane. Guests who made their way to the park were treated to food, refreshments, and games which were all provided by the Circleville Volunteer Fire Company.

The Circleville 4th of July Parade holds a special place in the hearts of residents in the area. “I’ve been coming every year since I was a kid and honestly ever since I can remember, said Town Justice Pat Owen. “I grew up in Circleville, and every year I look forward to the parade. I don’t plan on missing any in the future either.”

Several local Fire Departments participated in the parade, blaring their horns, flashing their lights, and throwing out candy and treats to the street side spectators. Several other local organizations were involved, including Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, The Hudson Valley Regional Police, Walden Savings Bank, Saint Paul’s Youth Ministry, and the Wallkill American Legion.

“My family and I have been coming for many years,” said Circleville resident Valerie Torre. “We’ve been taking my grandson every year since he was one and a half years old. He’s almost 7 now, and it’s been a tradition for us that we hope to keep. We come out to support the local fire companies and even our Church, who has a youth group participating,”

Independence Day celebrations all across the Hudson Valley will continue throughout the week, with fireworks, barbeques, parades, and plenty of patriotic paraphernalia. The Circleville Parade will remain special and unique to its participants and spectators for years to come.
