Dance academy hosts annual daddy daughter dance

On Monday evening Gina Marie’z Academy of Performing Arts hosted their 4th annual Daddy Daughter dance. The theme for this year was ‘boots and bling.’

A number of girls took advantage of the first ever Little Miss Spa VIP pamper party prior to the dance, which included hair styling, nails and light make-up. This was followed with a small “Dad reveal” moment when their fathers saw them after the spa.

The fathers had an opportunity to have their picture taken with their daughters against a western theme background.
Owner Gina Marie Zambito said every year she decides on a theme for the event.

“I was scrolling through the internet and I was thinking to myself what is the best of both worlds for the Dad and the little girl and I thought Boots and Bling, that’s what it is.”

Gina admitted to another influence, her late father Francis.

“I have to say my Dad had a little bit of play in this one because he was quite the little cowboy. I thought I could use the blue bandanna that I have that reminds me so much of him and just kind of play off of that and what I would bring to the party if I was going with him and I’m definitely the bling part of that party,” she laughed.

Gina said each year they have about 30 or 40 couples attend the event. The youngest attendee was 2 ½ and the oldest was 12.

“This event brings me so much joy and makes my heart so warm because it was something that I always wanted to attend but didn’t get a chance to,” she said. “So every year when I get to put it on for these little girls it makes my heart so full; to see the smiles on the Dad’s faces and the little girls faces; I’m giving them a night that they will never forget. I think that it’s extremely important to take the two hours or however long you need to take to make them feel special when they’re little because they grow up so fast. It’s so important that they learn that so that they can pass it on and the generations after us will be as loving as we are and can be.”

Chris White said this was the first daddy daughter dance that he has attended.

“They do a nice job and I’m having fun with my daughter, Jordyn” he said.

Brian Bishop attended the dance with his daughters Callie and Keira.

“This is our third or fourth year that we’ve been coming. We love it and it’s something they look forward to every year. They have a great time and get to see their friends and go and dance. There is nowhere they would rather be,” he said. “Gina and her staff do a great job and put together a great night.”
