The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan (CFOS) is pleased to share that applications will be accepted for the 2023 Make a Difference grants from September 25, 2023, to October 23, 2023. The application portal can be found on the Foundation’s website at cfosny.org.
The focus of this year’s grants is on nonprofits that are addressing the social and emotional needs of veterans living in Orange and Sullivan counties. Organizations with an annual operating budget of $2 million or less are invited to apply. The goal is to directly improve the quality of life for veterans in these counties.
“Veterans are an underserved group that deserves our attention,” noted Elizabeth Rowley, CFOS President and CEO. “This year, we’re directing our grants to nonprofits that can make a positive impact on the lives of this vulnerable population.”
This year, CFOS will distribute two to four grants, each with a maximum value of $5,000, to local nonprofit organizations in Orange and Sullivan counties. Grantees will be announced on November 13, 2023.
It’s important to be aware that certain categories are not eligible for grant support, including endowment funds, organizations that have received a Make a Difference grant within the last year, projects with a political agenda, academic or medical research, and funding for private education or religious institutions. The grants are not meant for retroactive funding, events or advertising.
The Make a Difference Fund was established by CFOS in 2003 to address emerging needs in the community.
Any tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization located in Orange and Sullivan County is eligible to apply. For questions or more information, please contact the CFOS office at (845) 769-9393 and ask for Lisa or reach out by email at lisa@cfosny.org.
