The National Night Out celebration is an annual community campaign held across various communities in the United States, bringing together law enforcement agencies and their communities together in a positive and peaceful atmosphere. It is annually held in most states on the first Tuesday in August while in other states and other areas it is held on the first Tuesday in October.
The purpose of the event is to promote police community partnerships and togetherness among neighbors to make neighborhoods safer. The first National Night Out event was held in August of 1984. Neighbors are given the opportunity to grow and connect with law enforcement members and see the people who serve and protect them in a more positive light.
