The Cornwall Dragons fell to the Crusaders of Monroe-Woodbury under the lights Friday night at M-W; final score was 18- 9.

The Dragons had 151 passing yards and 93 rushing yards in the game, with quarterback Quinn Pikarsky throwing one interception. He connected with Gabe Phillips, Jordan Bishop (57 total yards), Reef Morrison and Stefan Woeltjen.

“We came up short on Friday to a very tough and physical Monroe Woodbury team” said Coach Kevin Arduino “We turned the ball over twice and had 9 penalties. It is hard to beat any time with those issues. We met as a team on Saturday and talked about how we have to come together, fix our mistakes and get right back to work.
The team was 5-for-13 in third down conversions and two turnovers.

The Dragons are 1-1 on the season going into this weekend’s road game at Newburgh Free Academy (6 p.m. on September 20).

“Newburgh is going to be another challenge on the road but one that our kids are ready for,” Arduino said. “We are working to clean up our game and compete with another great program on Friday night.”
