Easter egg celebration returns

Town of Newburgh families and residents gathered Saturday for a morning of Easter Egg hunting at Chadwick Lake Park.

The egg hunt was divided into two separate age groups for the kids. One group was for town kids aged three to five and the other group was for ages six to eight.

Parents and kids lined around the area and as soon as the kids heard the word “go” they took off running and collected as many eggs as they could into their baskets.

At the conclusion of the egg hunt, kids got a chance to take a photo with the Easter Bunny before they headed out for the day.

Parent Mary Digilio took part in the festivities at Chadwick Lake with her son and said they must have collected about 25 eggs from the hunt.

“We’re thrilled that the towns can do this again. The kids have missed out on so much normalcy the last couple of years,” Digilio said. “They [Town of Newburgh Recreation] did a great job setting up here. The Easter Bunny on this beautiful stage was really nice.”

Stephanie Cifers, who has two children in each of the age groups, enjoyed being back out and enjoying the activities that the town and Chadwick had to offer.

“It’s great after a couple of years of not being able to enjoy that stuff. It’s a lot of fun,” Cifers said.

Parents Christina Carubia and Kristin Hall said they were both happy to be spending time with their families and take part in the egg hunt.

“It feels amazing to be able to do this again after two years of not doing it so we’re really excited,” Carubia said. “This is our first time coming here but I think it was amazing. It’s nice to see some sunshine out. The kids are all running and laughing and playing,” Hall said.

Carubia and Hall shared that both of their daughters had the joy of experiencing this for the first time after being inside for the last two years.

Carubia and Hall recommend that for those that do come to the egg hunt next year, the best thing is to come before 10 a.m. to be ready because the eggs get collected fast.

The morning continued with more photoshoots with the Easter Bunny and kids were able to collect a goodie bag on the way out.
