Elva "Nanny" Mary Ferdon Schreiber of Milton, died early Monday morning. She was 94.

Elva was born in Newburgh, to Maitland Ferdon and Edith Schaeffer Ferdon. She graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and worked at the YWCA in Newburgh. Elva married Leonard Wells Schreiber on March 17, 1946. They were married 72 years.

Elva worked as a bookkeeper for the family farm, Schreiber Orchards Inc., for over 25 years. She enjoyed writing in her journals, baking, and cooking. A woman of faith, she enjoyed being involved with the Milton & Marlboro Methodist Church for 72 years. She loved her family, children, and grandchildren and will always be remembered for her Thursday night spaghetti dinners, "opie meal" and the "clean plate club."

She is survived by her husband, Leonard Wells Schreiber, her sons, David, Donald and his wife, Dawn (Diorio) and their children Amanda Rae and her husband, Michael Schreiber, Victoria Lynne Schreiber, and Olivia Paige Schreiber. She was predeceased by her son, Peter Paul and daughter, Deborah Jean.

Services will be held at DiDonato Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 23  from 5-7pm with a celebration of life service following at 7:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made in her name to the Milton & Marlboro Methodist Church, 112 Church Street, Milton, N.Y. 12547.
