Emergency crews responded to a structure fire following an explosion Wednesday afternoon off Route 28A, officials said.
The West Hurley Fire Department and Empress ALS were dispatched at approximately 12:36 p.m., with additional resources from multiple fire departments and law enforcement agencies assisting at the scene, according to a joint statement from the Ulster County Department of Emergency Services, West Hurley Fire District, and New York State Police.
The cause of the explosion and fire remains under investigation by the New York State Police and the Ulster County Fire Investigation Unit. Authorities said road closures may remain in effect for the rest of the day but noted there is no threat to public safety.
