On July 27, at approximately 7:40 a.m., state troopers responded to a 2-vehicle accident on Interstate 84 in the town of Newburgh.

The Orange Lake and Winona Lake Fire Departments responded to the scene, along with Town of Newburgh Police, New York State Police, and Town of Newburgh EMS.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a small compact car was rear ended by an SUV causing both vehicles to leave the roadway and the SUV to rollover. The driver and sole occupant of the SUV was pronounced deceased.

This is an ongoing investigation. State Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or observed the vehicles prior to the crash to please call the state police at 845-344-5300.
