‘From My Heart to Your Table’ opens in Milton

Tina Fino’s life took a remarkable turn after she published a cookbook of her family’s favorite recipes that she entitled, ‘From My Heart to Your Table.’ Her long journey led directly to a ribbon cutting ceremony last Saturday afternoon, with family, friends and town officials in attendance, that officially marked the grand opening of her store, which keeps the same name as her cookbook, at 1977 Rte. 9W in Milton.

Tina then decided to sell her cookbook online.
“I really enjoy this and I would love a little platform to be able to sell and highlight my cookbook. This got me into opening my own shop, something I always wanted to do; it’s always been a dream of mine,” she said.

Tina credits the support she has received from her mother, “who encouraged me with the pizza ovens, with the shop,” and from her husband Neil, “who kept saying ‘you can do this, have confidence in yourself,’ so I took the leap. Today, I can’t even explain the feeling, I get emotional. Some people I don’t even know from the community support me; it’s amazing and so touching.”

At the store Tina also offers home decorations, collectible items, jewelry and hand carved items from olive wood. She is also the sole dealer of Gozney Home Pizza Ovens in the area.

“This is my passion; I love decorations and decorating and I love people,” she said. “I wanted a place where I didn’t have to travel and I wanted it to be a homey store and not like your typical retail store.”

Tina made sure the items she sells are affordable.

“I was a single mom for a long time, and it’s sad walking into a store where you can’t afford things. That was big for me here, and I wanted other single moms and single fathers and other struggling families to be able to walk in and walk out with something,” she said.

Tina is also considering hosting vendor events at her store location during the year.

“I’m very, very big on women supporting other women and home-based businesses,” she said.

Sheila Mannese, Executive Director of Meet Me in Marlborough, thanked Tina and Neil for joining her Agra-tourism group.

“We’re thrilled to have Tina open up her new business and as we promote Marlborough and make it a destination place, not only for Agra-tourism, but this fits in so perfectly with our hamlets, our farms and our businesses.”

County Legislator Tom Corcoran said, “Marlborough is a special place and I am glad to be here to start this adventure for these two special people.”

Using baseball terms, Corcoran said when Tina was working on her cookbook, “She stepped up to the plate, she hit the single and she had her cookbook introduced to everybody and it was well accepted.”

Corcoran said Tina went further by selling the cookbook online.

“She stepped back up to the plate saying I’m going to swing and I’m going for that double and we’re going to get it online and make it available to everybody to purchase,” he said. “Today we’re here at the Grand Opening of her storefront and she’s going to hit that triple.”

Corcoran looks forward to Tina’s future endeavors, “because I know she is going to hit that home run and is going to do better things in life. Congratulations.”

Legislator Gina Hansut and Tina have their roots in Highland and a friendship of more than 20 years.

“I know this [store] has always been her dream and she has a wonderful husband who has supported that dream and made it happen. We are all proud of you two for bringing more local businesses to our community, so welcome and best of luck to you.”

Councilwoman Sherida Sessa spoke on behalf of the Town Board.

“We are so happy to have another business opening in Marlborough. It’s the mission of our board and of our town to be a welcoming community for all businesses. We appreciate you, we are here behind you and we thank you so much for bringing your business to Milton,” she said.

Tina thanked everyone for attending her Grand Opening.

“Your love and support means so much to me and I hope that this store is a place that when you walk in the door, it feels like home,” she said.

Presently, From My Heart to Your Table is open Monday through Saturday from 9am to 5pm.
