Gardiner Library presents Facilitated (non-traditional) Haiku Writing Circle with Carol Bergman. This 10-week series starts Tuesday January 10, 12 -1 PM. Cost: $100.

A haiku is three simple lines. Writing haikus is a practice. It distills emotion, sharpens the mind, and creates a sensation of mindfulness and serenity.

There will be readings of Japanese and Western Haiku practitioners, prompts and sharing of drafts. All are welcome.

You do not have to be a writer to practice Haiku! Carol Bergman, a writing professor and journalist, is the co-owner of Mediacs, an independent publishing company in New Paltz. Her journalism, fiction and narrative nonfiction has been in numerous publications in the US and abroad including A Room of One’s Own, Absinthe Literary Review, and Epiphany. “Objects of Desire,” was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in nonfiction and “Another Day in Paradise: International Humanitarian Workers Tell Their Stories”, with a foreword by John le Carré, was nominated for the prestigious J. Anthony Lukas Book Prize. © copyright by Carol Bergman 2022.
