Gilbert (Gil) Fudin, age 93, of The Villages, FL passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 14th, 2024.
Gil was born in the Bronx, NY on August 12, 1931 but spent his childhood in Spring Valley, NY. Upon graduation from Spring Valley High School Gil pursued a career in pharmacy and graduated from Albany College of Pharmacy. After graduation from pharmacy school Gil practiced pharmacy in Cornwall, NY for more than 10 years but he became a legend at Ace Drugs store in Newburgh, NY where he worked for more than 20 years. He was dedicated to his customers and in 2005 he received the “Orange County, New York’s Pharmacist of the Year” award.
When Gil lived in Newburgh he was President of B'nah Brith and continued to stay a member of Temple Beth Jacob when he moved to Florida. He was also a member of the Jewish Community Center and the Jewish Federation
He always took his children to places like the New York Worlds Fair, Lake George, and loved playing board and card games with them during simpler times.
In 2006 Gil retired and in 2008 he became a full time resident in The Villages, FL which he and his partner Davida Brachfeld loved, and they met several new friends. Gil was very active in his synagogue, Temple Shalom of Central Florida, along with Davida.
Gil is pre deceased by his loving wife, Sondra Fudin (formerly Silber), his wonderful son Jeffrey Fudin, his father Harry Fudin, his mother Tessie Fudin (formerly Gleckel), and his brother Emmanuel Fudin. Gil is survived by his partner Davida Brachfeld, his son Terry Fudin, his daughter Debbie Radowitz, 8 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Those 9 little munchkins were the apple of his eye. Gil will be missed by his family and friends. May his memory be a blessing to all who loved and knew him.
A private service for family and friends will be on Thursday, September 26th in Newburgh, NY
