Goodwill Church in Montgomery joined a global movement Friday evening by hosting the Tim Tebow Foundation’s 11th annual “Night to Shine,” a prom night experience celebrating people with special needs aged 14 and older. The event, held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., featured a red carpet entrance, limousine rides, professional photography, hair and makeup stations, a catered dinner, karaoke, and dancing. Each guest was crowned king or queen of the prom, emphasizing their inherent worth and value.
“It’s incredible to see the joy and hope in the faces of our Kings and Queens as they step onto the red carpet at Night to Shine—that moment when they realize the cheers and applause are for them,” said Tim Tebow, founder and chairman of the Tim Tebow Foundation. “For many, it’s the first time they’ve ever felt truly celebrated, especially by someone outside their family.”
This year, “Night to Shine” was hosted by 821 churches across 62 countries, the most ever, bringing congregations, communities, and families living with disabilities closer together in fellowship. For guests unable to attend in person, a “Celebrate at Home” experience was available globally.
Since its inception in 2014, “Night to Shine” has grown from 44 host churches to over 800 locations in more than 60 countries, impacting over 1,000 cities worldwide. The event aims to remind individuals with special needs of their inherent worth and to communicate God’s love in a way that transcends language and culture.
