Would you like to decorate your home’s interior to make it Sparkle & Shine? Join us on Saturday November 20 for a DIY Holiday Garland Workshop to create a garland of festive ribbons to adorn your mantel or doorway. For $15, you are provided with a set of ribbons to make your garland while catching up with your family, friends and neighbors. Two 90-minute sessions are available: 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The workshops take place at the Shawangunk Town Hall.

You can easily do this with the spark of your own imagination. Vision of Wallkill asks the homes and businesses in and around the Hamlet of Wallkill to participate in the annual Sparkle & Shine Contest. Watch the supernatural happen when you light up and decorate your lawns, windows and storefronts. With the turn of a switch, you’ve weaved another thread that makes the beautiful tapestry of Shawangunk. But more importantly, you have made it a friendlier, warmer, and brighter place we all call home.
Businesses who wish to participate in the Sparkle Contest, and homes for the Shine Contest, are asked to post a photo of their decorations along with their address on VOW’s Facebook page so that our community can view your decorations. Decorations should be completed by Sunday December 5 as judging will start December 6. Winners will be announced the week of December 12, with award certificates and ribbons presented at a future Town of Shawangunk Board Meeting.
Santa will be hosting a Drive-Thru to greet all children and families on Sunday December 5, beginning at 3 p.m. near the Shawangunk Town Hall. We encourage children to come with their letters to Santa and give them to Santa at the Drive-Thru. Be sure the child’s name and mailing address are on the letters so Santa can reply. Families – show your holiday spirit and decorate your vehicles. When at the drive thru in your decorated vehicles, flash your lights and blast your favorite holiday songs while waiting to see Santa.
