Have a drink, and save some cats in the process

Precious Paws Inc, through the assistance of the Newburgh Brewing Company, hosted a night of food, drinks and fundraising to help in the group’s efforts to help and care for the cats in the Hudson Valley.

Precious Paws is a recognized no-kill 501(c)(3) organization. The group, made of volunteers from the local area, dedicate their time and efforts to the rescue of stray cats and kittens here in the county.

Precious Paws is involved in the care and safety of cats through the trap neuter return [TNR] method.

According to Precious Paws Vice President Colleen Bailey, while the group was raising funds on their own, 10% of the profits of the night came from Newburgh Brewing. Precious Paws was able to raise $2,250 without the additional 10%.

Fellow members of Precious Paws Toni Mazaella and Christine Jodoin helped with handing out raffle tickets and greeting people at the event as they made their way to their tables to mingle.

“I’ve been doing rescue for 30 years. I can’t change the world. But I can change the world for that one animal,” said Bailey. “It’s good for me to see this many people come out and you know, know what I do and want to help us support and know that they all love cats too.”

One of Precious Paws and Bailey’s closest supporters is Dr. Laurie Stein of the Main Street Veterinary Clinic in the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson. Stein and Bailey have worked and known each other for many years, and Stein was happy to be at the brewery, supporting the efforts of Precious Paws.
