Highland honors top students, retirees at school board meeting
The School board honored Highland High School’s Top 10 students in the Class of 2022: [L-R] Evelyn Wright going to SUNY New Paltz; Ryan Ta to Binghamton University; Marcelo Cuya to Stevens Institute of Technology; Tyreese Ling to Colby College; Margaret Van Valkenburgh to Hartwick College; Ava DeMassio to the International Medical Aid Internship program in Mombasa, Kenya in the fall and in the HQ Internship program in Athens, Greece in the spring; Riya Shenoy to University of Southern California; Dorthy Suzucki-Burke to Rochester Institute of Technology; Salutatorian Dimitrios Bakatsias to SUNY Stony Brook and Valedictorian Katelin McPeck to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Margaret Van Valkenburgh was honored for her service as the Student Representative to the school board. She is pictured with school board President Tom Miller and VP Sue Gilmore.
The School Board honored employees who are retiring this year, who have served the district for a combined total of 284 years: L-R Annmarie Trank (30 years); Jamie Riley (30); Nancy Jensen (20); Maria McCarthy (24); MaryAnne Lostaglio (23); Kathleen DiSciullo (14.5) and Carol Potash (12).
Absent were Karen Rogner (22); Elise Horn (13); Jim Moriarty (28); Dan Lynn (26); Linda Madden (26.5) and Peg Creamer (14).
