IDA approves contract for sidewalk work

The City of Newburgh Industrial Development Agency (IDA) held a special meeting on Thursday, July 14 and approved the execution of a contract between the IDA and N. Campos Construction LLC for sidewalk repairs at 145 Broadway.

IDA Executive Director Cherisse Vickers provided a brief overview of the current situation with the property. “We know that we’ve had a violation for the sidewalks at 145 Broadway. In the past we have attempted to have an RFP [request for proposal] We received one response. It was very costly,” Vickers said. “We reviewed the sidewalk again with Corporation Counsel, various code enforcement officers and we were able to get more clarity on what was needed to resolve the violation.”

According to Vickers, after reviewing the work, the scope of work was not as large as it initially was and another quote was obtained that was less than the previous quote. The contract is only meant to address work at the front of the building and ramp into the building.

With the approval to move forward on the contract and once it is signed, the work is committed to begin within the first five days of signage and to be completed immediately.
