The Marlboro Central varsity girls basketball team split a pair of games over the weekend after a dominant win earlier in the week, moving their record to 8-5 on the season.
The Dukes fell to Beacon High School, 51-39, on Saturday, Feb. 8, despite coming off an impressive 61-36 victory over Spackenkill the night before. Beacon (10-4) extended its winning streak to eight games, handing Marlboro its first loss in five contests.
Marlboro will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they host Saugerties at 5:45 p.m. The Dukes will also aim to keep their three-game home win streak alive when they face FDR on Thursday at 5:45 p.m.
On Friday, Feb. 7, Marlboro rolled past Spackenkill behind standout performances from Gabby Murphy and Lily Sullivan. Murphy led the Dukes with 14 points, while Sullivan added 12. Marlboro dominated from the start, securing its sixth win of the season by 20 or more points.
Earlier in the week, the Dukes cruised to a 69-30 victory over Highland on Monday, Feb. 3, to open their three-game stretch on a high note.
The Dukes will also aim to keep their three-game home win streak alive when they face FDR on Thursday at 5:45 p.m.
