While visiting the estate of a mysterious professor, four British siblings who are playing the fun game of hide-and-seek, accidentally come upon a magical wardrobe that carries them into the mystical world of “Narnia.” They discover what was once a charming and peaceful land, a beautiful story of good and evil, by C.S. Lewis.

However, it wasn’t accidental that I visited Newburgh Free Library Town Branch, with my daughter, Kristen.  Entering the inviting library doors, we were embraced by a magical carpet that swept us into a charming and peaceful home, and welcomed by two cheerful librarians ready to assist us.

The library is a stunning oasis brimming with the comfort and warmth of being surrounded by books of every genre, so beautifully staged on bookcases and shelves, waiting to delight little ones, to fascinate and educate young curious adults, and to offer a safe haven to our seniors who appreciate the myriad gifts of quiet and peace, and the blessing of meeting many kind people.

Librarians are true superheroes, and we appreciate their tireless dedication knowing how quietly they work behind the scenes, making sure that we will come back.  Libraries are the beating hearts of our communities, a gift that must be cherished.
