The Newburgh Free Library has been selected by the New York State Department of Labor to receive an award of $250,000 under the Workforce Development Initiative (WDI) Consolidated Funding Application (CFA).  These funds will initiate a year-long series of FREE Technology Workforce Development courses targeted to serve the long term unemployed, underemployed, people with disabilities, high school drop-outs, English language learners and the at-risk population lacking access to education or the skills to succeed.

The Technology Workforce Development program will include three levels of new, free digital technology education.  Trainings to be offered include: 1. a Foundations Course to teach digital basics and job readiness skills; 2. Intermediate level courses to teach website development, data analytics, networks and systems, and digital business management; and 3. Boot Camps providing intensive training in specific skill areas. One on one support and mentoring is built into the courses for students to achieve maximum success.  Participants must be 18 years or older. Courses will be held on-site in the brand new Tech Hub of the Newburgh Free Library at 124 Grand Street in the city of Newburgh.  Schedule is being developed for courses to begin in March, 2023.
