Lighting showroom opens in Marlboro

Last Saturday Dave and Chrissy Pulliam held a ceremonial ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening of their new business in Marlboro, called CD Lighting Showroom.

Dave said the new store, “is something I wanted to do ever since I’ve been in business [1980]. I enjoy building and repairing lighting fixtures and I’m happy to be opening a business in Marlboro to serve the public.” He added that he is doing this business venture with his wife Chrissy, saying, “It’s kind of like our retirement thing. We’re a one stop place, we can sell you the fixture, install it and we also do repairs and rewiring.”

Dave said they are carrying the Progress Lighting line, with prices starting at about $60.

“The range will be from farm house to ceiling fans, to decorative lighting, outdoor coach lights, indoor chandeliers, pendant fixtures, wall sconces, bathroom vanities and lighted mirrors,” he said.

Dave does take on custom jobs and is presently building a circular wagon wheel lighting fixture that, once finished, will be a chandelier for a new winery.

Chrissy laughed when asked about working with her husband in this new business.

“Luckily, I still have my job at the town hall [Budget Officer] and I will be doing the book work on Saturday mornings in the showroom office, unless he needs me on the floor,” she said.

Dave said they will serve residential, commercial and industrial accounts.

The showroom is located at 1116 Route 9W in Marlboro and their phone number is 845-393-5000. They are open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. More information is available on their website at www.cdlightshowroom.com where the public can view various lighting options and can place orders online.

Supervisor Scott Corcoran said he and the Town Board “are extremely happy to have another business invest in our town, especially a second business from an entrepreneur. They made the building extremely nice and if anybody has the opportunity to go there, they should check them out. Their prices are reasonable and you can look them up on line.”

Corcoran knows the owners personally and is rooting for their success. “I think they’re going to do great,” he said. “It looks like an old small town lighting shop that you would see back in the day and I think more of that is needed in our communities, instead of going to the big stores where you don’t get that personal service.”

Corcoran said the Pulliams are a ‘soup to nuts’ operation.

“Not only will they sell you stuff, they can fix stuff and actually install it; they can do everything.”

Corcoran noted that part of Marlborough now offers a lot of home improvement products, with a lumber company, a cabinet company, “and now a lighting company, so it’s always good.”
