Marlboro doubles team reaches MHAL quarterfinals

Marlboro’s doubles team of Adrien Gueren and Collin Benninger reached the quarterfinals of the Mid Hudson Athletic League boy’s tennis tournament on May 15 in Dutchess County.

Their finish qualified them for this week’s Section 9 boys’ tennis championships at Match Point Tennis Center in Goshen.

They were eliminated when they were beaten by Red Hook’s Kayden Gog and Alex Boucher, 6-1, 6-3. They opened the tournament with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Wallkill’s Mark Winters and Tyler DePuy.

Marlboro’s Jake Brown and Luke Colandrea were eliminated in the first round, 10-7, by New Paltz’s Lucas Weinman Ryan Nastasi.

Highland’s doubles team of Zach Haeser and Chris Haight were eliminated in the second round by Red Hook’s Patrick Horiszny and Brendan Donohue, 6-3, 6-0.

In single’s action, Highland’s Kyle Jayson was eliminated in the second round by New Paltz’s Nectarios Rodriguez, 6-2, 6-1, and Marlboro’s Troy Guillet was eliminated by Spackenkill’s Christian Balbo, 6-1, 6-3.
