New Windsor approves the construction of water line

The New Windsor Town Board approved to execute a contract for long term maintenance between the town and Village of Kiryas Joel.

The agreement states that Kiryas Joel will provide maintenance and protection of the town’s water infrastructure and surrounding properties located on Riley Road.

Riley Road is where the construction of the Kiryas Joel raw water main is anticipated to run through. Construction on the water has already moved along New York State Route 32 and is making its way to the Five Corners intersection.

According to town board documents, the Village of Kiryas Joel is looking to draw water from the Catskill Aqueduct. Water will be drawn and delivered to the village with a newly constructed raw water main system.

Kiryas Joel will be sharing a tap with New Windsor for water from the aqueduct and will have their own water for usage.

The town plans to maintain a close eye on the construction and development of this water main. Materials were said to have been brought to the town to begin construction.
