Newburgh’s Elle Gerbes finished ninth in the 50-yard freestyle and 12th in the 100-yard freestyle at the New York State Federation girls’ swimming championships on Saturday at the Webster Aquatic Center.

Gerbes entered the meet as the No. 13 seed in the 50-yard freestyle with an entry time of 24.04 seconds. Her 24.05 in Friday’s preliminary swim earned her an initial 10th place to qualify her for the championship race.

She finished the 100-yard freestyle first consolation race with a time of 53.13 seconds for an overall 12th-place finish. She entered the meet as the No. 9 seed with an entry time of 54.42 seconds and finished in 53.40 in Friday’s preliminary swim to qualify for Saturday.
