NFA track teams return to the Penn Relays

Posted

Last weekend, for the first time in three years the Penn Relays are being held at University of Pennsylvania’s Franklin Field in Philadelphia, PA. The world’s largest track meet by number of participants was held every year between 1895 and 2019 before being canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Participation in these races is based on several major criteria and those who meet them are qualified to partake in the scheduled events. Among those High Schools, Newburgh Free Academy (NFA), Coach Kathi Workman, and Cornwall High School (CHS), Dave Feuer, are just a few of the local girls relay race teams who qualified.

Traveling there almost became a nightmare for NFA as they were informed their bus was canceled. However, the CHS Athletic Director came to their rescue by offering their bus. Since NFA has 6 girls and CHS has 4 girls attending, the offer was gratefully accepted.
