The Bull Stone House, 183 County Route 51, Campbell Hall, NY, will be open from 1 to 4 PM on Saturday, October 12, as part of Path Through History. Nestled in the rolling, green hills of Orange County, New York, stands the Bull Stone House and, the only example of a New World Dutch Barn still standing in Orange County. The house is a living museum, owned collectively by descendents of the same family who built it. Along with the barn, the Bull Stone House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built in 1722 by the pioneering couple William Bull and Sarah Wells, using cut fieldstone. The house is four stories and family lore indicates that the construction took 13 years. During the Revolutionary War, the Bull family was divided with a mix of Loyalists and Patriots. Several of the family members are buried in what is now the Hamptonburgh Cemetery which is at the entrance to the Stone House property.
