Several weeks ago, The Patio Restaurant on Lake Street in the City of Newburgh was robbed by an armed gunman who made off with $480 in cash. The police are still investigating the robbery.

On the night of the robbery, restaurant owner Darleny Hercules and her husband were closing up for the night as they regularly would. Prior to closing a person had entered the restaurant and Hercules had said the restaurant was closed.

After saying that, the person attacked and hit her husband in the neck. The couple was held at gunpoint and the robber made off with the stolen money. Both husband and wife are doing ok following the incident.

According to Hercules, this is not the first time a robbery has happened before. A previous robbery involved a stolen laptop and money from the business but the police were able to arrest a suspect and take him to court. Other smaller incidents have occurred before in the past but the business continues on as usual.

In reaction to the robbery, Hercules said that business is looking to increase and upgrade it’s camera system, close a few hours earlier and have all employees leave at the same time.
