The Pine Bush Seniors softball team got off to a rough start in their first two games of pool play, losing games to Pennsylvania champion Meadville and Delaware champion, Camden-Wyoming.

“The girls are optimistic with two pool play games remaining (Monday) prior to heading to the elimination games (Monday),” Pine Bush assistant coach Mike Gabriele said.
Pine Bush opened the tournament with an 8-7 loss to Pennsylvania champion, Meadville, on Saturday.

It was the first of two straight wins for Meadville on the tournament’s first day, as they followed their win over Pine Bush with an 8-4 victory over Camden-Wyoming.
Pine Bush was back on the field Sunday morning against, Camden-Wyoming, and were beaten, 9-5.

Pine Bush was scheduled to finish pool play on Monday with games against Maryland champion, Elkton, and New Jersey champion, Pennsville, before advancing to the evening quarterfinals on Monday.

Meadville entered Monday with a 3-0 record, while Pine Bush was the only Pool B team without a win.

They needed to finish at least third out of Pool B’s five teams to avoid having to play four games on Monday to advance to Tuesday’s semifinals and finals.

“The competition is very good at this tournament, and we feel confident in our team’s ability to remain competitive and make a run during elimination play,” Gabriele said.
