PB’s William, VC’s Staples shine at OCIAA meet

Madison Williams won two events for Pine Bush and Bianca Staples won two events for the Valley Central Vikings to lead their respective teams at the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association championships on Saturday at Goshen.

The meet was held over two days and began on Friday at Warwick Valley High School.

Williams won both the girls’ triple jump and the long jump for Pine Bush, and Staples won the high jump and the 400-meter dash.

Shaylen Goslar was the only Chapel Field runner, and she won the 1,500-meer run with a time of 4:51.46.

Overall, Pine Bush was third with 84 points and the Vikings were sixth with 47.33 points. Goslar got Chapel Field 10 points, which tied the tiny Christian school for 13th place with Tri-Valley in a field of 22 schools.

Williams reached 17-4.5 to win the long jump, and Williams won the triple jump by reaching 36-0. Mya Riquelme was sixth, reaching 32-6 and Nia Merritt was eighth with a jump of 31-11.

Staples won the 400-meter dash in 56.81 with her teammate, Catherine Primavera taking fourth in 59.90. She also won the high jump by clearing 5-6.

Zoe Rodi was second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.38. She also was fourth in the 100-meter dash in 12.95 seconds, and fourth in the 200-meter dash in 26.54.

Ella Galloway was second in the high jump, leading a trio of high Pine Bush finishers. Galloway reached 5-1 with Williams taking third with a jump of 5-0.

Riquelme was fifth, clearing 4-8.

She was also second in the pole vault reaching 11-0 and Averie Klein was seventh, reaching 9-0.

Galloway was fourth in the long jump reaching 16-0.5.

The 1,600-meter relay team of Zodi, Jada Falu, Madeleine Cerone and Mackenzie Gula was third in 4:12.45. The 3,200-meter relay team of Pawlowski, Jessica Horne, Alyssa Biondi and Gula was eighth in 11:48.84.

Mackenzie Gula was eighth in the 800-meter dash in 2:32.98. Hannah Pawlowski was eighth in the 2,000-meter steeplechase in 8:13.34.

Valley Central’s Isabella Wade was third in the 100-meter dash in 12.76 with Staples taking fifth in 12.97. Wade was sixth in the 200-meter dash in 27.08.

Wade was seventh in the long jump, reaching 15-8.75.

The Vikings’ 400-meter relay team was fifth in 51.70, and the 3,200-meter relay team of Sophie Carsley, Hailey Morison, Laura Griffin and Allison Robinson was sixth in 11:04.87.

Boys
David Ramirez finished second in the 400-meter hurdles, leading Pine Bush to a ninth-place finish in the boys’ meet with 34 points. The Vikings were 14th with 14 points.

Ramirez finished the race in 57.28 seconds. He also was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.10.

Gihr was third in the javelin throw, reaching 117-0 and Joshua Dymond was sixth in 105-9.

Elijah Cruz was fourth in the shot put with a throw of 41-8.5 and Gihr was sixth, reaching 40-10.25.

JamesMichael Vizzari was fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:02.21.

Dymond finished fifth in the discus, reaching 120-3 and Gihr was eighth in 112-6.

The 3,200-meter relay team of Colin Best, Malakai Henry-Geraghty, Colby Zupetz and Vizzari were fourth in 8:45.34.

Valley Central’s Azaziah Marshal led the Vikings with a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.02. He also was sixth in the 400-meter dash in 51.22.

Valenick Exantus was fifth in the 100-meter dash in 11.70.

Devin Loprieno was eighth in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.78.
