Pine Bush VFW seeks support for ‘Hometown Heroes’

Posted

Something new is coming to Pine Bush on Saturday, April 23 starting at 8:30 a.m.

“We will be hanging 33 Hometown Hero Banners starting from in front of Crispell Middle School and going down Main Street, Center, and North Streets, all the way to the Town Park,” shared Commander Dan Dambrozio, V.F.W. Post 5492 Commander.

“We have three bucket trucks coming and some volunteers, but we could use some community support,” he said.

Dambrozio, joined by Service Officer Arnold Shavuo was stationed in front of the Valley Supreme Plaza selling two styles of t-shirts. The pair hope the public will wear them to the Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 30 with a 9 a.m. step-off at Crispell Middle School, and during the hanging of the Hometown Hero Banners. Keep an eye on social media for the next t-shirt sale date and time.

“We are working together with the Catholic War Veterans and the American Legion to raise money for improvements to the Veterans Memorial at the Town Park,” Dambrozio explained. “All proceeds from the $15 t-shirts will be used to support a very special project. We will be adding a wall with service flags and plaques on each side. This is our first time working with the other veterans’ groups.”

“I really want to get the word out that great things are happening,” said American Legion Commander, Doug Rockwell prior to the t-shirt sale. “Being a part of the monument project and having all of our veteran organizations working together is amazing.”

“We would like the community to know we are always welcoming new members and we really get involved with the community,” said Dambrozio. “The Night Out for our police department, supporting our food pantry, and the Pine Bush Law Enforcement Academy are just some of our causes. Come out and join us, come to meetings, and support these organizations by getting involved.”
