Police seek suspect who fled accident scene

On January 26, at approximately 10:00 AM, the City of Newburgh Police Department responded to the area of West Street and Van Ness Street for a motor vehicle accident.

Officers arriving on scene, located one of the vehicle's involved and a 68-year old male driver who had been assaulted by the operator of the other motor vehicle. It was also discovered that during the assault, the suspect stole property from the victim and fled the scene. This incident is currently under investigation and charges are pending.

The City of Newburgh Police Department is looking to identify the suspect who is described as a black male, approximately 6’ tall and of heavy build. This suspect was in the company of a black female and they both spoke with a Haitian accent. The vehicle operated by the two suspects is described as an older model Acura TL, gray in color. The male suspect and his vehicle can be seen in the photograph above
