Prudence Burdash

Prudence Burdash, 82, a lifelong resident of Highland died January 8 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Prudy was well known in the community from her days working at Brunch N Munch alongside her good friend Jeannie. She most recently worked assisting the residents of Valley Vista. Prior to that, she worked at Cabrini Adult Residence and at WRWD. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and great-grandmother, she dedicated her life to taking care of her family. Prudy loved nature, especially birds, dogs, and her cousin’s chickens.

Gardening and reading were passions of hers as well as baking and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed knitting scarves and hats for friends and family.

Prudy was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Tom Saso, and her brother Salvatore Saso. She is survived by her children, Susan Fairman and her husband Robert, Linda Ronk and her husband Kevin, and Peter T. Burdash and his wife Melissa. Also surviving are her grandchildren Brian and Drew Fairman, Kristin Grovenger and her husband Ian, Matthew Ronk, and Olivia Burdash, and her great-grandchild Eamon Grovenger.

Prudy is also survived by her sister Isabel Casabura and her husband James, brother Cy Saso and his companion MaryAnn, sister-in-law Gerianne Saso, as well as her cousin Maria and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, in addition to her ex-husband Peter R. Burdash.

A Mass of Christian Burial was helf Saturday, January 12 at St.Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church in Highland followed by burial in Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friends of the Highland Public Library in Prudence’s memory.
