Public hearing held for two production studios

The New Windsor Planning Board held a public hearing on two vacant properties located along New York State Route 9W proposed to be constructed and used by UMBRA Studios as commercial sound stages.

The UMBRA Stages are managed and operated by Tony Glazer and Summer Crockett Moore of Newburgh. The production company mainly operates on stages in the City of Newburgh and is looking to utilize the buildings along 9W here in New Windsor.

Both Glazer and Moore appeared before the planning board to address any questions about the project and usage should they be asked.

The proposed site plan presentations before the New Windsor Planning Board featured the properties 2934 Route 9W, the former used car lot and 2922 Route 9W, the former bowling alley building. The two properties are located on the eastern side of Route 9W.

Other buildings proposed to be constructed into additional sound stages for the company are the former venue Anthony’s Pier 9 across the street and another commercial lot up the road.

The two studio construction projects were represented by Dunn & Sgromo Engineers, PLLC, an engineering firm with offices based in Syracuse and Newburgh.

Board members and the applicant addressed comments from the town’s engineering consultant, MHE Engineering, about water infrastructure and site details.

2922 Route 9W was approved by the planning board to be sent and circulated to the office of the Orange County Planning Department. 2934 and 2922 Route 9W will need to address water infrastructure plans and will present again before the planning board at a later date.
