Greetings from River City. It is beautiful to see the Stars and Stripes waving in the breeze. I hope a lot of Americans flew the flag this Memorial Day weekend. It is sad so comparatively few of us are doing that in these last few years. I hope you all had a meaningful and safe Memorial Day Celebration.

A request for prayers for John Pizzzirusso, who has been suffering with fibrosis. Although he is receiving some treatment, it seems to be a bit baffling to doctors. John is a great guy, a sweetheart. The family would be very grateful for your gift of prayer. Thank you, dear prayer warriors.
Washington’s Headquarters State Historic Site presents a Donald “Doc” Bayne lecture, The Chain That Saved the Colonies, on Saturday, June 15 at 2 p.m. To stop the British invasion of the New England colonies during the American Revolution, Peter Townsend manufactured a Great Chain for the Continental Army at Sterling Forest. It was placed across the Hudson River at West Point.
Join Doc Bayne for a presentation on how he discovered the forge that made the Great Chain in Sterling Forest. Doc will share the history of the iron industry that started in 1736 at Sterling Forest, and how the Sterling Forge was used to create the Great Chain that was placed across the Hudson River at West Point.
Doc Bayne, a former Park Ranger and Environmental Educator, is currently President of the Friends of Sterling Forest State Park. This lecture is free with admission. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors or students, and age 12 or under admitted free. Cash and checks accepted. Incidentally, there aren’t many places left with those prices.
The grounds, museum and historic Hasbrouck House are open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 - 5 p.m. Washington’s Headquarters SHS is located on Liberty Street (between Washington and Lafayette Streets) in Newburgh. For more information, call (845) 562-1195.
“It’s easier to fool people than it is to convince them they’ve been fooled.” Mark Twain. Rather unfortunate, but we’re seeing cases of that running all over the place. As always, I close with my prayers for God’s blessings on your heads, my dears.
