New Windsor Planning Board approved the completed application for a new solar farm project to be completed in New Windsor along Mt. Airy Road.

NY Solar 1001, LLC, had made an initial appearance before the New Windsor Planning Board during their April 13th meeting. The proposed project for New Windsor is for the construction of a 5.03 megawatt solar farm with 7,000 panels proposed to be installed. An additional proposed eight foot tall chain link is to surround the solar farm.

The solar farm was proposed to be constructed on a 31.5 acre parcel of land located at 354 Mt. Airy Road. The current location of the property is on current farmland.

Present wetlands near the proposed project have planned to be avoided during construction and the applicant of the project has proposed wetland restoration if so needed.

The proposed project plans will now be circulated to the Orange County Planning Department. Discussion for a public hearing will continue due to time needed for county review and consideration of the project.
