At an 18 minute meeting on December 30 the Highlands Town Board signed a contract, transferred some money, hired three part-timers and wished the community a happy new year.
Hired were three Recreation Department workers for youth basketball season – Kyle Salva, Jacob Larkin and Jamel Larkins. The three will help Recreation Director Aaron Falk with scorekeeping, timing and hallway supervision at the games for the three different divisions of play.
In financial matters, among them was the moving of money to pay for a new air compressor for the Highway Department, “a needed purchase” Deputy Supervisor Rich Sullivan said.
And in correspondence, Supervisor Bob Livsey read a letter signed by the Highland Falls Library Board of Trustees (Ronnie Coffey, Regina Kopald, Gus Koutsourades, Uzma Zaib, Jody Downey, Nancy Padula and Beth Feldman) thanking the Town Board for its support in the previous year.
“It is because of the support of the Town Board that we can continue our work for all who come to our library,” Director Stacy Falk wrote. “We look forward to another year of doing favorite programs, stocking our bookshelves with sought-after new releases and providing the community with the vibrant library it deserves.”
Livsey called it “a very nice letter” and Councilman Joe DeWitt called the staff and directors of the library “class acts”.
Finally, Livsey said that in the new year, persons for items looking to be on the board’s agenda need to contact him by noon of the Thursday preceding the meeting,
