The summer season got under way last year with the beginning of the District 19 Little League baseball and softball tournaments, and the Greater Hudson Valley baseball league summer season.

The Town of Newburgh - New Windsor senior baseball team picked up where it left off last year, when it won the district championship. The team won its first game, beating Wallkill Area, 13-4.

The team was scheduled to play again on Monday.

The Majors softball team won its first two games of tournament play and was scheduled to face Middletown on Monday in the Bracket A championship game. A win Monday would put Town of Newburgh - New Windsor into the championship bracket.

In GHVBL action, the Newburgh Red Storm’s 14U team suffered a doubleheader sweep at the hands of the Heat. The 16U team was beaten, 8-7, by Wallkill.
