Tri Montgomery event postponed due to local event conflict

Organizers of the Tri Montgomery race announced the event, originally scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5, will be postponed until spring due to a local event conflict causing staffing shortages. The race, which features a 6.1-mile run, 20-mile bike ride, and 1.5-mile kayak segment, is presented by the Business Council of Greater Montgomery and benefits the Ronald I. Jacobowitz Health and Education Fund.

This year’s event was set to include a new walk option through Benedict Farm Park for those opting out of the full race. However, organizers, led by event coordinator Randi Picarello, expressed concerns about securing the necessary emergency services to ensure participants’ safety.

“Due to the nature of this race, we require multiple emergency services to ensure the safety of our participants,” Picarello said. “Instead of risking the growing reputation of the event, we hope that you will join us to enjoy all that the Three Villages have to offer in the spring for the Tri Montgomery.”

Potential dates for the rescheduled event include the last weekend of April or the first weekend of May 2025. Participants and sponsors have been asked to confirm if they would like to hold their registrations for the rescheduled event.
