The Business Council of Greater Montgomery will be hosting its second annual Tri Montgomery, a weekend-long event featuring a triathlon, fundraisers and other activities for the community.

On Friday, October 13, the Montgomery Senior Center will host a spaghetti dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will cost $10 per person. Residents can register in person at 36 Bridge Street or on the council’s website at threevillages.org.

On Saturday, October 14, the triathlon will begin at Benefit Farm Park on 1675 State Route 17K at 8 a.m. and will include a 5.3-mile run, a 20-mile bike course and a 1.5-mile kayak course on Wallkill River. Participants can register on the council’s website or on the day of the race between 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.

For single participants, the triathlon will cost $145; alternatively, a duathlon of just the run and bike course will cost $95, and just the run will cost $45. Teams of two or three will only need to pay one registration fee for their whole team, and students, seniors and first responders will receive a 20% discount. Participants under 16 must be on a team with parental consent.

Proceeds from the triathlon will go towards the community’s advertisement, tourism and beautification. A portion of the earnings will also be donated to the event’s nonprofit participants, including Hudson Valley Honor Flight, Hospice of Orange and Sullivan, Wallkill River Arts, RDAC, Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan and the Alzheimer’s Association.

Around 11 a.m. or 12 p.m., the council will host an award ceremony and distribute awards and prizes for various categories, and all participants will receive discounts for local stores. Following the ceremony, the Wallkill River Center for the Arts will host the Hudson Valley Plein Air Festival from noon to 3 p.m., and the village will host a happy hour across its restaurants.

On Sunday, October 15, the Orange County Batallion 2 will host a pancake breakfast fundraiser in the Montgomery Fire District at 136 Ward Street from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. The breakfast will cost $10 per adult, $7 per senior or child, and free admission for children under five.
