Ulster County Republican Chairman Roger Rascoe has died of an apparent heart atack. He was 69.

“We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of our greatly loved patriarch Roger Rascoe,” the family announced on Facebook. “ He had a great passion for his family, friends, community and Country. He has touched the lives of so many and will be profoundly missed. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers during this devastating time.”

“Roger dedicated his life to improving the lives of New Yorkers through the political process, in his community work, and in his long career serving in the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and in the Office of Children and Family Services,” said New York State Republican Chairman Nick Langworthy on Saturday. In his more than a decade-long tenure as Ulster GOP Chairman, he played an invaluable role in helping to elect candidates from the local level to Congress. His leadership and friendship will be greatly missed by our entire organization.”

It was announced Sunday that all flags in the Town of Shawangunk would be flown at half staff.

“Mr. Rascoe was a pillar of our community and he will be missed very much,” read a post on the Town of Shawangunk Facebook Page.

Rascoe is survived by his wife, Shawangunk Town Clerk Jane Rascoe, and their four children.
