At their meeting last Tuesday, the Montgomery Village Board announced the winners of the Village of Montgomery 33rd Annual House Decorating Contest.

This year’s contest featured only three categories, whereas last year there were six. Village of Montgomery Mayor Stephen Brescia noted that while many local businesses donated gift certificates for the contest, there were fewer donations than last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Denise and Brian Quinn’s home on 48 Sycamore Drive was named most beautiful. Their house featured Christmas wreaths lit up bright green as well as bright red bows. As a prize, the Quinn’s received a $100 gift certificate to Wallkill Valley Federal Savings & Loan as well as a $45 gift certificate to The Wildfire Grill.

Michael and Gale Buchholz of 87 Madison Avenue placed second in the most beautiful house category while Kevin and Kelly Quinn of 8 Haskins Court placed third.

Andrea Peters’ front lawn on 39 Sycamore Drive features many hallmarks of Christmas, including a nativity scene, a nutcracker, Santa Claus and a reindeer. Lights hang from the rooftops, resembling icicles. For all of her hard work decorating, Peters earned first place in the children’s delight category. Her prizes included a $50 gift certificate to the Borland Inn & Brunch House, a $50 gift certificate to Mystic Rose Florist and one haircut from Raydiance Hair Salon.

Robert and Jill Winter of 9 Conroy Avenue placed second in the children’s delight category and Angela Englander of 4 Tyler Street earned third place.

Donna Briere’s home on 193 Clinton Street took first place in the old fashioned Christmas theme category. Her front porch features an inflatable snowman as well as an inflatable Santa Claus, both of which are staples of the holiday. For her decorations, Briere received a $50 gift certificate to the Borland Inn & Brunch House, $60 earrings from Imperial Jewelers and lunch for two at the Iron Café.

Harry Mills Jr. of 109 Union Street placed second in the old fashioned Christmas theme category and Neils Veras and Jheymi Castillo of 383 Angelo Drive finished third.
