Anibal “Nip” Rodriguez, of Montgomery  entered eternal rest on March 15, 2024 in Newburgh, NY.  Nip was born January 19, 1945 in Canóvanas, Puerto Rico. He was the youngest son of the late Emilio and Petra Morales Rodriguez.

As a young man, Nip grew up in Garnerville, NY graduating from Haverstraw High School where he was very popular and a friend to all. He was active in sports and took great pride in spending time with his large, close family.  Nip was drafted to the US Army in 1967 and proudly served  his country in the 1st Infantry Division during The Vietnam Conflict where he proved himself to be a dedicated and skilled soldier, embodying the values of honor, courage and commitment. 

After returning home, Nip met his future wife of 54 years, Margarita Lugo. They found a home in Montgomery, NY where they raised three children together in a loving home. Survivors include his wife, Margarita, son, Thomas Rodriguez and his wife Elizabeth, son  Michael Rodriguez and his wife Michele, daughter Priscilla Brundage and her husband Dustin, grandchildren: Vanessa, Joseph, Michael Jr., Gregory, Kayla, Emilia, Alyssa, Nathan, Mila and great-granddaughter, Violet.  His sister, Sofia Brestolli and her husband Robert among many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents he was predeceased by five brothers and three sisters.

Nip pursued a career as a member of UA Local 373 Plumbers and Steamfitters in Suffern, NY. Outside of his professional endeavors, Nip found joy in giving back to his community by coaching little league baseball and youth basketball.  Among his many passions, golf held a special place in Nip's heart as he shared his passion with family and friends, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever.  Above all else, Nip was a devoted family man. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, and his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support will be dearly missed. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and all those whose lives he touched. 

A Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 10:30am at Holy Name of Mary Church, 89 Union St., Montgomery. 

Internment of cremains will follow at Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
